The "Fixer" Relationships

The "Fixer" Relationships

When someone enters a relationship with the intentions of changing the other person, the relationship ultimately fails. The nature of a relationship is based on compatibility. If one enters a relationship in which he/she feels the need to change the other person to suit their fantasy, the relationship crumbles.

How to overcome your "fixer" status...
  • Respect the other's flaws
  • Don't expect a perfect partner
  • Develop better communication
  • Accept that others are responsible for their own actions; don't feel others' guilt
  • Take the focus off of other people and take time to get to know yourself better and to work on your own flaws
